Reputation – HCPs: Engagement with the sector

Read more about how healthcare professionals view the relationship between pharmaceutical industry and the healthcare sector

Personal interactions with pharmaceutical employees continue to drive positive sentiment towards the sector

HCPs recall contact with pharmaceutical employees – most often this is contact with representatives, as in previous waves. Other forms of contact are largely unchanged, though there are signs of increased contact with medical science liaisons (MSLs). Of those who have had some interaction with a pharma employee, most felt these interactions were helpful, or even essential, for their role as healthcare professionals.

HCPs continue to see scientific journals as the most reliable source of information about the sector, by some distance relative to other sources. However, pharmaceutical companies themselves and their representatives are also seen as reliable, more so than other sources, excluding journals. Around half see these companies and industry professionals as reliable.
